最近よく聞く「モデストファッション」。
最初は正直、「え、なんか保守的な服装の話？」って思ってたけど、
調べてみるとぜんぜん違った。
服で主張しないどころか、めちゃくちゃメッセージ性あるじゃん、これ。
イギリスの研究によれば、このモデストファッションって、
宗教とか文化とかに関係なく「自分が快適な格好を、自分の意思で選ぶ」
っていうスタイルらしい。
しかもこの流れ、SNSでもめちゃくちゃ広がってるみたいで、
インフルエンサーたちが日々いろんなコーデを投稿中。ってか、
フォロワー数の桁が違う。バズってる。
で、驚いたのが、この市場が欧州だけでも数十億ユーロ規模になってるってこと。
要は“ガチで流行ってる”。
日本のブランドも少しずつこのスタイルを取り入れはじめてて、
「あ、この子どこの国の子？」って感じのビジュアルが
街にも増えてきてる気がする。
一見地味だけど、実は「静かなる主張」みたいな服ってカッコいいよね。
露出少なめなのに華やかさがあるのもすごいし、「私は私」って感じがにじみ出てる。
なんかね、これって「自己主張」っていうより「自己尊重」なんじゃないかと思った。
信仰が違っても、文化が違っても、「この服装が私の心地よさなんです」って言えるって、
すごいことじゃない？
モデストファッションって、ただのスタイルじゃなくて、「あなたを尊重します」
っていう無言のコミュニケーションなんだと思う。
ファッションってつい流行とか露出とかに目が行きがちだけど、
こういう“内側からの選択”で着る服もあるんだなって、
ちょっと見方が変わった。

It says, “I know who I am. I don’t need to show it all to prove it.”
That kind of quiet confidence? Kind of amazing.
More than fashion, it’s a way of saying “I respect myself” and “I respect you.” Doesn’t matter what religion, country, or background you’re from. If this is your choice, it matters.
